Fine blanking (FB) refers to a press working technique in which blanking (punching) is performed precisely. The principle is based on the "hydrostatic effect," which states that when pressure is applied to a metal, the force of plastic deformation increases. In general press work, the workpiece is placed on a die (mold) and pressurized by a punch to be processed, which requires an appropriate gap (clearance) between the die and the punch. Fine blanking, on the other hand, eliminates the clearance as much as possible and presses the workpiece from both the top and bottom.
